Of course it could! They don't call it the "Death Star" for nothing, it pretty much only does two things: 1) It destroys planets and 2 ) It leaves lying about the universe the secret plans carefully detailing its one vulnerability so it gets destroyed by tiny men in tiny spaceships. (apparently "keeping track of important plans" is the Death Star's one weakness) But in the destroying planets department, the Death Star is no slouch.
