Disability is a significant factor in the health and well-being of Americans. More than one in four (28.7%) U.S. adults live with a disability, with various types affecting their daily lives:

Cognitive Disability: 13.9% struggle with concentration, memory, or decision-making.
Mobility Disability: 12.2% experience difficulty walking or using stairs.
Independent Living Disability: 7.7% find it challenging to complete errands alone.
Hearing Disability: 6.2% are deaf or have significant hearing difficulties.
Vision Disability: 5.5% are blind or have serious vision impairments even with glasses.
Self-Care Disability: 3.6% have trouble with tasks like dressing or bathing.

Individuals with disabilities face higher health risks compared to their non-disabled counterparts:

Obesity: 40.5% of adults with disabilities are obese compared to 30.3% without disabilities.
Smoking: 20.9% of adults with disabilities smoke, significantly higher than the 10.2% rate for those without disabilities.
Heart Disease: 10.4% of adults with disabilities have heart disease, while 3.7% without disabilities do.
Diabetes: 16.6% of adults with disabilities have diabetes, compared to 7.9% without disabilities.
