A December 2015 National Poll from Monmouth University reveals significant views on climate change among Americans:
- 22% believe climate change is not occurring.
- 9% think it is not a serious issue.
- 8% are uncertain about its occurrence.

Despite these beliefs, 60% of people consider climate change to be a very serious or serious problem. Additionally, 70% acknowledge that the climate is changing, resulting in more extreme weather events and higher sea levels.
Regarding potential impacts, 55% of Americans anticipate that sea level rise will significantly affect their local environment, from weather patterns to drinking water quality. On the other hand, 20% foresee just a minor impact, while 21% believe there will be no impact at all.
As for the causes of climate change, 27% attribute it mainly to human activities, 34% see it as a result of both human activities and natural processes, while 8% argue it is solely due to natural changes.
